Walk Through (Expedited) Booking

If a warrant check turns up an active warrant, or if you missed a court date, you may not have to wait to be picked up and held in a cell. In many cases you can do what is called a walk through booking, which is a calmer and more organized way to handle the situation.

Whether you can bond out right away depends on the charge. Even some warrants that have a set bond amount still require seeing a judge first, so immediate release is not guaranteed. We will review the details with you ahead of time so there are no surprises.

The expedited booking is available Monday through Friday. The Orange County Jail requires a $20 money order for the expedited booking process. The defendant first comes to our office so we can complete everything together, and then we personally take them to the jail and deliver the bond with them to make sure it goes through smoothly. Because the paperwork and the bond are ready in advance, the walk through process generally shortens the release time compared with a standard booking. What If You Have to See a Judge Before Release?

Not every warrant lets you bond out the same day. If the charge requires a first appearance, the judge has to set or confirm the bond before anyone can post it, and that changes how we plan the surrender. In that situation we usually have you turn yourself in during the evening. You see the judge the next morning, we post the bond once it is set, and release then runs about 8 to 12 hours. When the warrant qualifies for the expedited walk through instead, the timeline is shorter, closer to 4 to 6 hours after surrender.

Either way, someone has to sign as the indemnitor, the person who agrees to make sure the defendant shows up for every court date until the case ends. The indemnitor does not have to be a Florida resident, and whether any collateral is needed is our call based on the situation, not an automatic requirement.
